Do you Think Shawn will go to London this year?
Re: London 2009!
i believe the thread transitioned from london '09 to potential chicago '16 and we were all going to crash at White knight's place but we decided to get a bus instead, and now we use the bus for all Shawn-related activites?
im not even sure if that all happened in this thread but thats basically what happened

If we get into economic trouble and need a bailout from the Government, I think the private jet is going to have to go... Prez O, and The Press seems to be against corporations/entities with private jets who take public bailout money ...
Maybe we could get a government grant to study "the effects of fandom on Olympic athletes, and the resulting increased market share of endorsements, appearances, and whether improved visibility of the athletes causes members of said fandom to continue to take measures that delude them into wanting to party nonstop, and following the athlete's personal appearances."
Then maybe the private jet would look like part of the study ... maybe just get a fractional share of a jet , see NetJets Global. I think the fractional shares start at 1/16 ... and they have American and European plans... so we could follow Shawn if she hops across "The Pond" to London!
Here is the link to the type of jets would could get... Most Aircraft types...
"NetJets flies the largest and most varied fleet. We are not affiliated with any one manufacturer, giving us the freedom to choose only the best jets in every class - 15 different light, midsize, and large cabin aircraft types accommodating from 6 to 18 passengers with flight range of up to 7,700 miles. The diversity of the NetJets fleet gives our Owners the flexibility to purchase a share in the aircraft type that best suits their typical travel profile, while allowing them the opportunity to exchange among the various jet types to accomplish specific missions."
Here is a link to NetJets's video: The NetJets Difference Video
And here is Roger Federer telling us how great it is to jet from one tennis match to another using NetJets fleet... Roger Federer using NetJets in America and Europe

Re: London 2009!
i'm sure once word gets to Shawn about how her dedicated fans are flying around in a jet with her picture on it and generating publicity she will give us some funding

Re: London 2009!
Hey, why settle for a measly little private jet when we can go all out and buy an Airbus A380. They are HUGE and we would have plenty of room for games and party space lol. I mean, look at the size of this thing!
Look at the engines!!

Re: London 2009!
the Airbus A380 is really a bad choice for the mission to support Shawn at ANY and ALL appearances ... because as this following article says - the plane needs special procedures when it lands: puts a strain on existing runaways (which might need to be beefed up if more A380s are pressed into service) - in fact I think only 2 airports in this country can handle it (LAX and New York's JFK International):
See Airbus A380 is a mixed blessing for LAX
"So far, about a dozen airports in North America have had an interest in the A380, but only two have accepted the plane -- John F. Kennedy International in New York and LAX. San Francisco International Airport, which was the stage for a Qantas demonstration flight last week, is preparing to begin A380 operations."
and get this:
"If an A380 flies into or out of the airport, aircraft behind it must maintain a longer distance because of strong wake turbulence, swirling air that can cause a trailing plane to go out of control. Heavy jets like a 747 must stay at least six miles away, while light planes must maintain a distance of 10 miles." Which means during peak hours - air traffic controllers have to space out the planes because of the "pig" known as the A380 (which takes jobs away from Americans if you think about it)
It is so big that:
"When the A380 taxis from its gate on the south side of the Bradley terminal [at LAX] to its maintenance area for routine servicing on the north side of LAX, it must use one of the airport's two north-south taxiways, which are next to each other. The wings are so wide that aircraft are prohibited from using the other taxiway until the A380 passes. Cunnyngham estimates that runway closures can last three to five minutes, while road closures last five to 10 minutes."
Time is money and the A380 is wasting it ...
But but look at this horrid blog entry which discusses the [remote] possiblity of using the A380 as a replacement for the Boeing 747-200 fleet being used as Air Force One ... ugh here is the link from October 2007: EXCLUSIVE: US considers Airbus A380 as Air Force One and potentially a C-5 replacement

Re: London 2009!
OK, I can't believe I am putting off sleep to bring this to you all, but I found this picture of Shawn getting off a private jet that I think might have taken her to some Cheerleading competition/training event the week before the Super Bowl in Florida:
As Shawn wrote on flickr, "My 'ride', Oh Yeah!"
and then after she gets off the plane, she gets to ride around in a Ferrari here: "her ride, Part II, Part Deux? "

Re: London 2009!
There was a programme on over here last Sunday about the A380 and it showed just how intense it is. I really want to go on one! Apparently there's going to be casino's and gyms on board plus on a plane that size we could happily fit the entire forum on board

Re: London 2009!
lets just hope the pilots take off the autopilot when flying in an ice storm (remember the prop jet that didn't exactly make it all the way to the airport around what Buffalo, NY (somewhere in upstate NY)
