Exactly, it doesnt seem that big until you go elsewhere and are like "well why isnt this store here...we have it...."

and you can walk the whole mall in less than 20 mins and you end up saying "that's it?"

I thought I read in an interview [with Shawn] that she said if she does go for the 2012 Olympics she could only train with Chow - and she said that would mean staying in West Des Moines, IA - putting off college until after the NEXT Olympics.... if someone wants to get industrious they can try to track down that interview

i was wondering how she was going to train elite with college coaches. that would make sense to stay with chow, but i feel like she made it clear that she wants to go to stanford badly.

Im sure stanford would have no problem taking her, brings them a lot of attention

yea but would this be a set back in training for the olympics? she has other ambitions that might interfere with her going to london 2012

If she put of college until January of that year or pushed it back a complete year she could do both. She seems to be pretty good at multitasking.

it's just that a lot of time is involved with training for gymnastics. you can't just pick it up a few months before and expect to have elite skills. it has taken shawn 13 years to build up to the routines she had. if she wants to go to the olympics and train with chow, i would imagine she'd have to take a year or two off of college at least. but that is something that is up to her obviously

I hope she does, shell never have this opportunity again and is among the few in the world that have such an opportunity. But whatever she wants to do she should do because it is her life after all.

i agree. training for the olympics takes up a lot of time, but i'd imagine that it's well worth it

there is no doubt in my mind that she did not. her parents were there. they competed almost every day. she has standards, morals, and values.

And the fact that shes one of the youngest ones there. I never assumed she did, that article was pretty amusing though. Shawn seems like a very classy and rooted person who wouldnt mess around like that

it's a shame she isn't going to the american cup though. maybe she'll get back in competition in 2010
