Plane crash in NY...

Anyone see that on the news? "Wow..." was all I could get out when seeing it. I'm so glad everyone got out alive.

Incredibly hard since it was a plane, and it must have been going pretty fast when hitting the water.

i'm really surprised no one was hurt. i'm thinking hitting the water at high speeds in a plane would cause some serious back or neck injuries

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I saw. Apparently the plane hit a flock of birds which took out 1 engine and then the pilot tried to take it back to the airport but realised he wouldn't make it so decided to try a landing into the water. It sounds weird but he's a hero for landing it in the Hudson, it could have been so much worse seeing how close it came to the financial district

Yeah, I realise that too now. The news over here was streaming through pretty slowly so we didn't know exactly what caused it until about 2 hours afterwards. All I can say is that man that pilot deserves a medal, I think Mr Obama should sort that out for him, I mean the guy not only saved those on the plane but thousands on the street as well

yea i guess not only did the pilot know how to fly commercial jets but knew how to fly glider planes so that came in handy

Exactly, also his fighter pilot experience meant he had fast reactions and the fact the weather was calm meant that the water was flat making it easier to land but even so that was sensational, I want that pilot flying me around

It was amazing hearing the story. I can't believe he really landed it in the Hudson. I heard that he was going to try to land it on a private runway that he could see in New Jersey but couldn't make it there so he banked it into the Hudson. Quick thinking on his part. Amazing pilot. I became his fan on Facebook lol. But it's so incredible that everyone came out alive! I was so happy to hear that!!

Talk about a freak accident, but it was just breathtaking hearing about it.

there's really nothing you can do. the only reason bird strikes are more common is because jets are getting quieter and quieter every time they make new ones

That's true dallas, on the news over here they said that at Heathrow they sometimes send people out with guns to scare the birds off before the rush hour

well on the news here they said we either fire a cannon before takeoff or high pitched waves or something like that

in my mind I've got a picture of a medieval guy going out with a massive cannon and firing it at some geese

That, or they figure out the bird isn't dead yet and rolls the cannon up to it and shoots it point blank... wow, I'm getting a bit morbid here.
