[WIP] The Beauty of Nature
Today, I just though I should do a stock edit since I haven't in a while. It started out pretty good and I was just experimenting with different gradient maps and such, and then I remember a piece of art I saw from a tutorial I looked at briefly quite a while ago. It was of a fruit bowl or something with colored water spilling over the fruit. I don't remember it in great detail but I just remember that I loved the colored water. I decided to try it, but the trouble was that I couldn't remember where I found the tutorial. So I just tried different things and ideas to make the water colorful but I didn't have any luck. Then I decided to go about this the hard way. I rendered out most of the water in the river (which took me a pretty long time even though I didn't do that good of a job on it) and then I used a "rainbow" type image with only a color scheme on it (I'll post it once I'm all done) and I did some smudging and effects on it and a bunch of other stuff to finally get a colorful water. But why stop there? I also messed with some lighting and the feel of the stock. I added my name at the end just because I didn't want anyone to steal it (I know none of you guys would but some people like to surf the net and just steal other peoples artwork sometimes, and since it's not even done it would be easy for someone to work off of it). I did make the text look alright though. I tired to make it seem like part of the image. This piece stock edit I think will be, dare I say it, my best piece of artwork ever.
When uploading the picture to photobucket it was too big so it automatically resized the image to be smaller so you can't see as much detail as I hoped for.
(just click on both of the thumbnails to see the full size)
Here is what it looked like before:
It's still a WIP (work in progress).

Re: [WIP] The Beauty of Nature
Thanks. Got any suggestions for it though? I'm having a sort of brain cramp right now and can't think of anything to do. I know it needs a lot of work. I do realize the depth is really bad. I just did a quick one minute job with my blur tool in photoshop just so I could show of what it might be looking like once I'm done. Sadly it didn't turn out how I liked it. But in terms of suggestions; should I add more of a sparkly sort of feel? Or maybe brighten it up even more? Or work on the colors in the water more? I really need some feedback.

I've basically stopped working on this. It was taking up waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much space on my hard drive. The .psd file was actually around 4-5 gigs which is ridiculous and I had a couple of versions of it so all together that folder was around 16 gigs.

Some demos are alright, but the full game is where it's at.
I really prefer free online games though. If you get bored of them you can just uninstall them.

Exactly right, but I didn't get the full version of mgs4. I'm getting madden 09 soon though so I'll be immersed in that for a couple of months lol

Re: [WIP] The Beauty of Nature
Really? Only a couple of months? Usually I go through a video game phase where I spend a couple of years playing a certain game and then move onto the next after getting really good at it.
Re: [WIP] The Beauty of Nature
that's the beauty of sports games. there's never an end until they come out with another one

Well I'll wait and see how addictive franchise mode is this year, I played 06 for about a year solely for franchise mode.

Wow. What the longest time you guys have played a game for? I don't mean off and on over a certain amount of time. I mean like die hard game playing.
Re: [WIP] The Beauty of Nature
for me i would say a week or two. i usually take some breaks in between. i can't say i'm a die hard gamer
