SHE'S GOING TO LONDON!

as soon as I read the news update on the site i thought i just had to post about it

I never really believed she would skip out on 2012. You could tell from her attitude and self motivation even back in 2006 that gymnastics was too important for her to give up. It's a lot different from the attitude displayed by other gymnasts

Shawn's definitely passionate about gymnastics. 2012 Shawn will be 20 heading into the olympics, is that prime age for gymnasts or is that a little over?

She will be a bit old compared to the other athletes but who cares she could still be in tip-top shape. I'm so happy she decided she was going for sure!

YAY! I is so happy! Shawn is going to be in another Olympics!! Wow....

Does anyone know how many Olympics female gymnasts end up doing on average? I would imagine not very many, cause I remember in Bejing most of the girls were 16, 17 or 18.

I'm not sure... Alicia Sacramone was 20 at the Beijing Olympics and she was known as one of the oldest if not the oldest female gymnast there.

One of Shawn's role models, Shannon Miller, went to two olympics herself.

I freaked out when I heard the news. I'm defiantly going to go to the 2012 Olympics. I was actually born in England so it will be nice to check back in. I'm going to grab some of my buddies and fly out there. Hopefully work or college won't be in the way.

cool, i'm for sure going also. I'm gonna be going with a bunch of friends and family, fyi tickets go on sale a little later than usual (on sale in 3 years), and i think you should start reserving hotel rooms asap!

How asap are we talking about? And when do the tickets go on sale? lol Like they are on sale now?

Wow that's amazing news! I'd love to go ! One thing I'd like to see more (which is probably a bit more reasonable) is go to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. I'd LOVE to watch ALL the Canadian women's hockey games! It would be the highlight of my life for sure.

Sounds cool Nicole. That would be cool to see some Olympic hockey games. Actually... it's be cool to see any Olympic sport.


Matt please get back to me on my question, if tickets are on sale now I'd better start ordering.

Tickets for olympics usually happens within 2 years of that olympics. London is different though and tickets are going on sale in 3 years. When I say asap about hotels, I'm going to be reserving mine this coming summer.

*sigh* one day, one special day I shall go to the Olympics. That would be really cool.

I guess I should reserve my hotel stuff and car stuff soon. Maybe this summer as well. Why are they holding off on selling the tickets till 3 years (I'm guessing 2011?)?

tickets go on sale in 2011. Each ticket comes with free public transportation for the day of that event. (Ex: your going to see Shawn do some gymnastics thing one day, you have free access to public transportation for that day.) Link to info ---> tickets

I'll probably buy tickets for all of Shawn's events, go watch a couple other events, and do a little bit of site seeing after the games so I can miss most of the airplane traffic coming back from London.

Sight seeing is a must in London! I'm gonna get tickets for swimming, springboard diving, gymnastics, beach volleyball, and track and field...i'm gonna have to start saving now lol.

lol I'll worry about the money later. I got 3 years to worry about it.

Those would be awesome sports to watch!

Yea those are the most exciting ones to watch to me I'm actually going to try out for my college's track and field team next year (taking this year to train).

Oh cool. In track I generally do high jump or javelin. I would also do sprinting and/or triple jump and maybe some other things too but it would be way too much work and I usually just do track to stay in shape for soccer season.
