Re: Stanford...
Yeah, maybe she'll choose another college if they cut gymnastics but the team did quite well last year so I dunno if that's likely.
I loved the link to the tree site as well lol, the first story made me rofl

Re: Stanford...
Well in one of her interviews she said she was going to go to an Ivy League College, but idk now because I also did see the article with Stanford in it.
But I hope she goes to an Ivy League, preferably University of Pennsylvania, becuase it's right across the river from where I live.

Re: Stanford...
Of course, if she wants a REAL education, with a degree valued across the WHOLE world, she neeeds to come to Oxford or Cambridge.
Now Cambridge..only 100 miles from me:D....................

Re: Stanford...
Let's just settle this once and for all....she needs to come to school by me...I mean if she came here she could find a really cute, funny, smart guy.......and I really need to get rid of them because they are cramping my style!

Haha and Scrawny, I highly doubt she's going over to England.

Re: Stanford...
I think Stanford would be good for Shawn
Also money isnt a promblem for Shawn since she has gone pro and is making millions....
She also cant get a gymnastics scholarship since you cant compete Collegiate after you go pro NCAA rules...
Plus Ivana Hong would like to here also and it has been mentioned that Shawn and Ivana are very close...
Shawns stated that Ivana is the person she is closest to on the national team...

Re: Stanford...
Sadly I don't think she would be able to coach a team for many years, most of the coaches are way older than Shawn would be. Even the girls on the team would mostly be a couple years older than her. College gymnastics is nothing like the elite level buts its still entertaining lol. I watch the Utah Utes and Georgia Gym Dogs whenever I can.Scrawney wrote:Hopefully Shawn isn't like them but I guess it's just the college that suits her best. I think she'll try coaching the women's team there and use it as a stepping stone into coaching on the national team when she's older

heck yeah georgia! go dawgs!
i thought that it would be weird, getting coached by someone who is 4 years younger than you (for the senior team members). I also imagine that coaching gymnastics is a pretty difficult thing that takes a lot of experience to do well.

Re: Stanford...
Don't most colleges have student coaches assisting with sports? I believe they do at least in football.
I could see Shawn assisting in that way, especially since she probably has a lot more experience then most college gymnasts. Though she may get them killed, teaching them her moves.

Haha I can imagine her saying something like "So today we're going to do my beam routine from the Olympics" to a crowd of gymnasts going

and if you don't feel pain in every part of you're body by the end of practice, you're not doing it right

Heads up? So THAT'S where I went wrong!
I was watching my ski tips, and when I looked up it was WAY too late. No major damage though, except maybe to my pride

Re: Stanford...
if shawn would go to college she woulnt be on the gymnastics team. since she turned elite she cant compete at a college level. but in an interview she said she would love to coach the stanford team. i think that would be great!

Actually she turned pro...
You can still compete College after you go elite
But once you start making $$$$ off of it you cant compete collegiate
For example Samantha, and Bridget can compete collegiate even though there elite because they havent made a penny off of it

Re: Stanford...
would there be any incentive for competing in college after going elite?
i haven't watched that much gymnastics until recently, but from what i've seen the talent gap between elite and college is huge.

yeah the skills don't seem to be as difficult in college. i know shayla, who was/is an elite and a part of the 07 worlds team, has committed to the georgia bulldogs.

Yea, if you are already an elite gymnast, why would you even consider competing in the collegiate level, you would destroy people.
You would be doing 5x's the difficulty then other gymnasts.
