Just out of curiosity...

I was just looking at who was on and stuff on the home part of the forum and noticed a bot was in. Google.
I was just wondering.. what do bots do? I've seen both Google and Yahoo. What are they and do they even do anything?

I'm not sure but I think they're there to add stuff to the search engines. So, for example, I typed in Scrawney Shawn Johnson I might get a post of mine come up. I'm not sure how long it takes before stuff is added though

No problem, on another forum I'm a member on I used to see them all the time and wonder what for but someone just said they add things to the search engines and get the website on there

lol it's nothing to fret about. What it does is it updates it to the search engine. Websites change so google and yahoo have to send out bots to find the changes and make sure they are current with their search engines. I believe the term is indexing? Neutral
