President Obama
Just want to say as non-American, thank you for electing Obama. He's so much better for America than McCain and I'm sure he'll bring the change he speaks of I remember his speech in 2007 when he first stated he was going to stand for President and I turned to my mum and went "He should be President, I think he'll win" - I should of put a bet on him lol

Re: President Obama
We all took time out of classes and watched the inauguration live at school. Not gonna lie, I didn't want him to get it at all, but now that he does have it, I'm sorta pumped about it. It's weird.. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of either candidates.
But as an American, I think it's fantastic that we have an black president! Such a great moment in our nations history!

Re: President Obama
It's amazing that he has that effect on people. I mean we were more interested in the US election over here than our own politics. It's great to see a black President but his race isn't what inspired me, it's his ideas and message of change although it is amazing to see how far black people have come since the days of segregation

Re: President Obama
Yeah, they cleared about 3 hours of the schedule over here and then I switched over to the news channels to see more of it. What did you guys think? Obviously I'm going to be very praiseworthy of him because he believes in all the stuff I believe in and goes about things very methodically and that's how I think too but I'm nowhere near as intelligent or as good a speaker

Re: President Obama
lol the news presenter over here said that he knew something would go wrong with the oath. It was funny by the end of the day because all the studios and indoor places had gone to the US networks so the BBC got given a rooftop lol and he was up there with his friend and random people from 11am-11pm. At one point he had to go off camera for 10 minutes to get warm

I don't know about the largest crowd ever in one place. I know we had 1 million people in Hyde Park in London for Live 8

Re: President Obama
alright here we go i got this off wikipedia. "Over 45 days beginning in January 2007, more than 70 million Hindu pilgrims from around the world gathered at Allahabad (also known as Hindu holy city of Prayaga) in India for the Ardh Kumbh Mela or the partial Kumbha Mela, the world's largest religious festival and also the world's largest gathering. More than 5 million participated on January 15, the most auspicious day of the festival of Makar Sankranti"
It also says that Obama's Inauguration had around 1.8 million in attendance

Re: President Obama
Whoa, that's crazy. I remember seeing pictures of muslims at Mecca where they throw stones these pillars to banish the devil and they were all moiving from one pillar to the next in a clockwise direction, it was crazy. There's always stampedes at those religious events
