Shawn's car?
OK, we know it's a Range Rover, or Landy LR6 or so, but my question is WHY?
Did she choose it? I thought not as it was a surprise gift, but she could have............and if so, why choose one that she has, (had), to sit on a cushion to drive?
She could have had, say, a Mazda RX8, sporty and would fit her like a glove, also costs less money.
Or she could have had a Subaru Impreza, (I have one of those running over 350bhp myself), and they are seriuously quick even at base power, will carry 5 and their luggage, and grip like the proverbial. A bit of fettling and they will see off most Porkers
So WHY a Landrover?

They sponsor her so they gave it to her as a surprise gift on her 16th. I know it's big but she can still drive it, just needs the help of a pillow

In the video of her getting it, they say something about it being donated. I wish someone would donate me a car... mine sounds awful.

Re: Shawn's car?
Uhh... haha it takes a while. To get it to shift for the highway or a higher speed limit, i have to put it in neutral so the car keeps rolling, turn off the engine, turn it back on and put it back into drive and then it shifts. It's sorta scary at first and takes some getting used to but hey, it runs. And we just replaced the battery like a month ago. I used to have to jump it every time I wanted to start the engine! Now that was a pain....

Re: Shawn's car?
13 years old. It's a '96 Chrysler Sebring... She leaks when it rains, she doesn't always shift, she leaks oil and antifreeze, plus it makes this weird sound like a motorcycle, except that the exhaust is fine. Other than that, she runs great! Once the breaks didn't work, but luckily I was still in a parking lot and could just use the emergency break..

Re: Shawn's car?
man vault you have a sweet car back to the question i think they gave Shawn a range rover because it snows in Iowa...a lot. what better than to have a car that can handle the snow than a sports car that well...doesn't

Re: Shawn's car?
I don't think she can have another car unless it's a Land Rover because of her sponsorship deal so that must suck

Re: Shawn's car?
Sort of an update..remember how I told you about my crappy car?
It died this morning... I was driving on my way to school and it just stalled. So I have the auto-jumper kit thing and tried to jump it- No luck.
This really nice guy stopped to help me and that didn't work. He looked at the engine and there was this wire and tube thing just sitting there. He was like, "Dang. You need a new motor." So we pushed it to the side of the road and I had to walk back home. So I'm here now... Time to go car hunting.

Yeah, the snow, and ice, I never thought of that, we don't get too much in the UK, and when we get a few cm, everything just grinds to a halt, especially in the soft south. LOL. No offence southern UK guys
Landy's are OK, but where do people get the idea they handle? Grip in mud and snow, yes maybe, but handle? not in a bajillion years. Go round a corner fast, they fall over, LOL, (hope Shawn's never does).
Sorry to hear about the car that died, it's happened to us all I'm sure, but it's pretty miserable. I've sort of forgotten those days, can't wait for my back to get completely better so's I can give the Scooby some beans again. Haven't driven it for over three weeks.

Re: Shawn's car?
Lol I'm a southern UK guy but I completely agree with you. When it was icy a couple of weeks back I was stuck behind this guy doing 45-50 on the motorway and then braking hard whenever the car so much as twitched!
I haven't driven mine in a couple of weeks because a) I've had nowhere to go and b) I need some new tyres, the old ones are wearing thin

Hahaha. They're in pretty good shape! They're Goodyears. I just find it funny that we just talked about it then it goes and dies... I must have jinxed it. Oh well... I'll miss it's character, too.
